On August 8, 1916 was inaugurated at Niagara (Ontario, Canada) the first passenger cable car across North America, the "Niagara Whirlpool Aero Car". It had been built by a (specifically, Basque) Spanish company registered in Canada, The Niagara Whirlpool Aero Car Company, with Spanish capital (primarily, vizcaíno, to a lesser extent, Cantabria), Spanish administrators, engineer Spanish builder material transported from Spain Canada during World War I (eg nacelle passengers), Spanish initial commercial exploitation: in short, I + D + i a hundred years ago.
