The real promoter of the creation of this company was Charles Ledoux, a French engineer whose aim was to unify and organise the interests of the mining companies of Sierra Morena and the Guadiato Valley in the provinces of Cordoba, Ciudad Real and Badajoz. After the signing of the agreement, Hullera de Belmez renounced lead mining for a period of 50 years, while SMMP renounced coal mining.
