ABSTRACTIntelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) have the potential to improve the efficiency of a distribution network facilitating decision-making in real time. In this paper, we analyze with a case study the profit reported by an ITS in a perishable goods distribution network under different network configurations and different environmental conditions. An ITS serves as support in three areas of decision making: Assignment to logistic flow, new collection orders from suppliers and detection and management of degraded merchandise. The analysis have been developed through a dynamic simulation model and an ANOVA test.
