Competir con éxito es una tarea que se ha puesto difícil. En una situación en la que los ciclos de vida son cada vez más cortos, el hecho de disfrutar de una ventaja competitiva hoy no significa en absoluto el que la simación vaya a mantenerse a medio plazo. La competitividad hay que generarla continuamente y la Innovación es la clave para ello; en esto coincide la gran mayoría de las empresas que concurren en el mercado y así lo ponen de manifiesto importantes organizaciones empresariales de todo el mundo, en diversos documentos y manifestaciones (European Round Table of Industrialists, UNICE, Competitiveness Council, etc.).
