El punto critico de estanquidad en los cilindros hidraulicos es el cierre sobre el vastago ya que la fuga originada en este punto afecta negativarnente
al funcionamiento del equipo. Los collarines de elastómeros, incluso aquellos provistos de unos labios de estanquidad óptimos, proporcionan una relativamente buena estanquidad dinamica, pero la friccion de estas juntas es elevada, sobre todo en altas presiones. Debido a la friccion a velocidades bajas, se origina un movirniento a tirones. La junta deslizante de PTFE, presenta baja fricciOn
pero Ia fuga dinamica es demasiado
alta.
Los problemas de la fuga y de la
friccion, no fueron resueltos hasta
Ia presentacion en 1973 de esta
junta.
Finalmente, se consigui6 una
tanquidad completa con baja friccion,
montando dos juntas en tandem
