ABSTRACT: Energy saving in induction motors has focused on speed control using frequency variators, as well as in replacement of conventional motors by high efficiency motors. However, the conditions of power supply source have not been fully studied. The concept of voltage optimization is based on the optimum feeder voltage without variations to a particular load. The main target is to achieve that load operates at its máximum efficienty point and the rest of parameters with normal operation. In this paper, energy consumed by a three-phase squirrel cage induction motor was measured at different load regimes with voltage variation at a set range. Results shows that at full load with a 5% voltage increase, improves performance motor, however, power factor (PF) has a slight decrease compared to nominal conditions. Keywords: voltage optimization, energy savings, induction motors.
