ABSTRACTIn this article we analyze the electromagnetic metamaterial whose refraction is negative as a shielding to the absorption of radiofrequency in the head of the user of a cell phone. It is shown that the absorption substantially decreases with this configuration in free spaces and would allow greater protection to the mobile user especially in magnetized environments. The reduction of the specific absorption rate (SAR) with metamaterials is studied by the finite difference method in the time domain. The SAR specification by the manufacturers does not take into account the strong influence of the magnetic field generated in transmission lines, the interior of electric train platforms, the proximity of electrical devices etc and its interaction with the microwaves of the mobile which enables the SAR to increase dramatically as shown in this article. As personal protection it is predicted that the next generations of mobiles will be shielded by metamaterials that attenuate the influence of magnetic fields in the absorption of radiofrequency by users in highly technological cities.
